Months leading up to the Carnival, BJAM-DC hosts various social and fundraising events. Not just to raise money, but for Bahamians and friends to come together in the spirit of Junkanoo! As events are scheduled they will be posted on the site to inform all of those who wish to attend. We hope to see you all!!

March 2006

19th - BJAM-DC Meeting at the Ambassador's residence. All are welcomed.

April 2006

22nd - "Taste of The Bahamas" cook-out fundraiser held at The Bahamas Embassy. Last year this event was extremely popular and we had a large turn out. This year we encourage all of you to purchase your tickets in advance and come early to get the choices you want.  All advanced ticket purchases will come with a complimentary soft drink. If you wish to assist in this event or make a donation please contact Michelle Sears.

May 2006

June 2006

18th - "Taste of The Bahamas" - Down Home Souse Out. Following on the heels of a second successful cook-out event, BJAM-DC is holding its final cook-out event before the parade on the 24th. This time it is a breakfast/brunch, old fashion souse out at The Embassy. As always, a donation of $10 includes a meal of your choice and there are other items for sale. So come out and enjoy breakfast with us!

23rd - BJAM-DC Rush-Out Practice. Place: Downtown Silver Spring, MD (8506 Fenton St.). Time: 5.30pm. We will assemble in front of Courtyard Marriott and proceed to the practice area as a group.

24th - DC Carnival Parade on Georgia Ave.

The day of the parade is fast approaching! All persons who plan to participate in the parade must sign a waiver (Get Acrobat Reader) to acknowledge that BJAM-DC will not be responsible for any injuries incurred during the parade. Persons who want to "rush" with the group, but do not have a costume, must purchase a BJAM-DC T-shirt. For more information contact Khandra or Michelle Sears.

March 2008

9th - The next BJAM meeting will be held in Baltimore - 122 S. Mount St., 21223.   The meeting will start at 3pm and you're more than welcome to bring food and beverages just call/email beforehand what you plan to bring. There is an informal agreement to have at least one cookout this year (maybe one in April and one in May) and there has also been the idea to host an evening function at The Embassy. Both events would require significant planning and clearance from The Embassy. This will be a big part of the discussion on Sunday. If you can't make it but want to put your 2 cents in then please e-mail Khandra with your ideas.
